Nancy McCallion released captivating new song ‘Dancing Days’
The topic of ‘Dancing Days’ is the difficulty in coping with loss and grief around the holidays of Christmas and New Year, when the absence of loved ones is felt the most keenly.
The singer thinks back on the “shades” of Christmases past as people decorate their homes with lights and tinsel and holiday classics are broadcast. The singer finds solace in singing Auld Lang Sine on New Year’s Eve and celebrating the memories of that love that will stay with her “forevermore,” so not everything is as gloomy as it seems.
One year after her mother’s passing, McCallion, an Americana songwriter from Tucson, Arizona, wrote the song in 2016. Playmate, a traditional song that McCallion recalls her mother singing to her when she was a child, is featured in the chorus.
