“Natural Circle,” by London-based composer Richard Green, is an enchanting piece that brings together piano and strings in a delicate frolicking. Collaborating with pianist Irene Veneziano and the Archimia strings quartet, Green recorded this single at Elfo Studio in Piacenza, Italy, and released it as part of The Circle Closes EP on March 1st, 2024.
“Natural Circle” is structured around the symbolic closure of a cycle, beautifully reflected in the music’s arrangement. The song opens with gentle piano chords that rise gracefully over deep string tones, creating an immediate calm and expansiveness. As the piece progresses, the vibrant strings layer upon each other, lending an uplifting quality that feels like a celebration of life. The interplay of strings and piano mirrors a dialogue between liveliness and groundedness, evoking a harmonious balance.
Towards the end, the song gradually returns to a soothing tone, with deeper strings taking center stage and gently bringing the piece to a close. This finale feels like a reflective pause, a peaceful conclusion that closes the circle, leaving listeners with a sense of resolution, serenity and appreciation towards the rise and fall of life.
“Natural Circle” concludes the trilogy that unfolds a thematic journey of life’s cycles of birth, growth, and death and underscores Green’s vision of embracing the present moment. Listen to his concluding and consoling track filled with gratitude and acceptance to transform your perspective of life. It’s available on Spotify.
