Known for her majestic vocals and expertise with Bossa nova, French chanson, Italian, American jazz, and other genres, Mafalda Minnozzi presents her latest musical endeavor. In collaboration with American guitarist, arranger, and producer Paul Ricci, her latest 15-track album, aptly titled Natural Impression, Minnozzi effortlessly switches between Portuguese, French, Italian, and English with a sensational stylistic range.
The album kicks off with a theatrical and jazzy flair in the first track, “Águas De Março.” The soft piano elegantly flows, accompanied by drums and an array of engaging instrumentation. Minnozzi takes center stage with her delicately powerful and dynamic vocals.
Her ninth track, “Estate,” unfolds a different mood as prominent melodic and drifting smooth guitar lines take the lead. Minnozzi’s voice adopts a sultrier and lower tone, infusing the song with suspense and mystery. Her slow and smooth delivery adds an intriguing quality to her versatile vocals.
The album concludes on a catchy note with the last track, “Samba De Uma Nota Só.” Piano melodies cascade rhythmically, while the subtle strumming of the guitar plucks just well enough to complement Minnozzi’s intriguing vocal style.
In Natural Impression, producer and guitarist Paul Ricci collaborates with musicians like Helio Alves (piano), Eduardo Belo (bass), and Rogerio Boccato (drums, percussion). Special guests like Don Byron (clarinet) and Joe Locke (vibraphone) among others enhance the album’s texture and depth.
Whether you are a jazz aficionado or a music lover, you will love what Mafalda Minnozzi has to offer with her album, Natural Impression.
