TJ Devoe takes you sonic journey through the bizarre, splendid and unpredictable tropics in his latest indietronica EP, Natural Phenomena, released on March 6th. Drawing inspiration from Devoe moving into the northwest Louisiana woods, this collection of songs pays tribute to the natural world giving life to the earth.
Natural Phenomena kicks off with “Chordata,” a track that immediately grabs your attention with its techno glitches and frenetic energy. As erratic sounds swirl around intriguing flourishes, you can’t help but feel a spine-tingling sensation building. The pulsating beats and brighter tones create an electrifying atmosphere that sets the tone for the rest of the EP.
Next up is “Sun Belt,” taking you on a journey through quirky dancey grooves and catchy beats. The pulsing beeps and sparks create a captivating rhythm that’s perfect for getting your feet moving in the club.
“Roan” follows with thumping beats and intimidating synths that set a heavy backbeat and groovy current. As bleeping flourishes, breaking glitches, flaps and various textures expands the song’s field in layers and keep our ears attended at all times.
The EP concludes with the 90s throwback dance remix of the first, “Chordata – DÄDBÖD Remix,” bringing a creepy triballic twist to the original track. With heavy atmospheric aura, this remix pulses with low swirls and sweeps, creating an eerie yet captivating vibe.
TJ Devoe unofficially debuts with Natural Phenomena. His appreciation for nature goes a long way. You get to support the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana by buying his music through the Bandcamp page.
