Nauci Gold released captivating new song ‘Lowlights’
Nauci Gold’s first album, ‘Lowlights’, confirms the sound of his first EP, ‘Roots’. Musically, the proposal is the same as ‘Roots’, soul/nu soul mixed with ethnic elements and synths, but he takes a step forward with a less shy sound that goes deeper and without fear in Gold’s sound world. In this album, voices and polyrhythms play a big role, and Nauci’s voice is the protagonist. “Ma’at” is the first track sung entirely in Spanish, and ‘Lowlights’ is the song that gives the album its name and best defines the sound of the Canary Islands artist. ‘Lowlights’ improves on ‘Roots’. It’s the sound we were looking for: a Nu soul album with ethnic details and approaches to alternative RNB or NU jazz. Vocals and polyrhythms mark ‘Lowlights’. Nauci Gold wrote and mixed/mastered the album with Canarian, Latin, and American musicians.
‘Lowlights’ is about emotional or spiritual growth, learning to blossom, embracing our ghosts, saying goodbye, and understanding we’re part of a whole as humans and a community. We’re all blessed, even if we’ve been cast aside. When the light is low and we’re alone with our hopes and dreams, holding on helps.
