Nervous by Smoke Spider: Review

“Nervous” is a heavy-sounding intense rock song and Swedish band Smoke Spider’s 7^th single release. The band is the brain-child of Göran Florström and Johan Granat whose musical talents precede their reputation. Honestly, you are not ready for this one, I promise.

There’s no room for spacing out, because from the beginning until the end “Smoke Spider” keeps at it, restless rhythms, a powerful guitar-driven backdrop, sometimes showing off the masterful skills, especially in that solo portion, all complementing the voice and its powerful chorus. From the first second, distorted guitars sweep you in, setting the tempo amid gloomy melodies and a shaker beat. The singing is brutal, thanks to the ferocious Florström, proving one more time that Smoke Spider bombards with well-written and executed classic rock songs with timeless melodies.

What stands out about the duo is they make everything sound like a heavy production, and a massive performance by a full-fledged band, creating genre-breaking soundscapes that are certainly an ear-full but get you captivated with their outstandingly polished guitar play. And turning the power of two into one big sound, they are distinctive in their approach. It would be an honor to catch Smoke Spider pounding and playing live!
