Deep Sea Arcade is back, and they’re making sure you feel everything. Their latest track, “No Direction,” is a shimmering, psychedelic dive into the unknown, wrapped in dreamy, hypnotic layers that feel like a conversation between past and future selves. It’s their first release since the heartbreaking loss of collaborator Nick Weaver in 2021, making it even more poignant—there’s a weight to it, but it never feels heavy. Instead, it floats, carried by a groove that pulses with urgency.
The song kicks off with a vivid, heaving ripple of sound, lush, shimmering, and restless. The beat lands steadily, grounding the hazy atmosphere, while the melody swirls like a mirage on the horizon. Then, the voice arrives, high, hypnotic, delicate but deliberate and sensual. An echoing refrain follows, airy and carefree, like a ghostly whisper of the past urging you forward. There’s something cinematic about it, something that makes you feel like you’re standing at the edge of a moment that could change everything.
Co-produced with Jay Watson (Pond, Tame Impala), “No Direction” carries the DNA of modern psych-rock greats while staying true to Deep Sea Arcade’s signature sound, polished but intimate, nostalgic but never stuck. It’s the perfect preview of their upcoming album, a record that promises to explore both loss and reinvention. And if this track is anything to go by, it’s going to hit.
To top it off, the band has been hitting the road for a national tour this March 2025, bringing their kaleidoscopic energy to stages across Australia. Mark your calendars, for 29th March is their final showdown. Stay tuned for further bangs.
