Israeli NYC-based drummer and composer Eden Har-Gil releases a mesmerizing and vivid musical representation of Prospect Park’s vibrant Nethermead. Released on March 8th under the label XJAZZ! Music, “Nethermead” features an exceptional lineup of collaborators, including saxophonists Caroline Davis and Lo Wood, along with bassist Dezron Douglas.
What is really just a patch in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, “Nethermead” embodies the park’s spirit with its mellow and relaxing jazz-blues fusion. To feel the the park and the patch before you, just close your eyes and you will find yourself in the tranquil setting, where the music makes the grass shimmer amongst the gaps of the canopies.
The song wistfully progresses as the layers of saxophone harmonize beautifully, weaving a tapestry of sound that is both catchy and uplifting. Meanwhile, Har-Gil’s drumming provides a gentle grounding force and vitality, with consistent patter and a deep rumble to carry the song forward. The sparkling cymbals remind of the sparkling sunlight and allude to the refreshing sparks of joy in the composition.
Throughout “Nethermead,” the horns serve as the song’s voice, evoking images of frolicking and singing past scattered trees in the woods and the park. Each note resonates with warmth and emotion, letting you bask in the beauty of nature and music alike.
With influences ranging from jazz legends like Lenny White to contemporary artists, Har-Gil has crafted a truly unique sound that is both timeless and refreshing. “Nethermead” is only the first single from his upcoming album, Hearts of Palm slated for release this May. Stay tuned with the rising artist and keep yourself in mirth with “Nethermead.”
