SUN MAHSHENE steps on a new chapter through the depths of post-shoegaze soundscapes in their latest single, “New Shores (Radio Edit).” Released on March 22, this Dublin-based sextet delivers a powerful anthem of new beginnings and fresh starts.
Produced by Michael Richards, “New Shores (Radio Edit)” envelops your ears in the rock-filled haze. From the moment the song begins, you’re immediately drawn in by the grinding, fuzzy guitars soaked in reverb that lead the way to a world of swirling and haunting echoes, portraying the longing and hope amidst the swirling haze. It’s shoegaze at its finest, with echoes of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive reverberating throughout.
Nathan Henderson’s emotive vocals pierce through the haze, as though he is singing from a hilltop to the whole of the open nature. His soulful voice soars amidst the instrumental energy racing with the sparkly drums thumping and building momentum. His voice carries you along on a journey of self-discovery and renewal. “New Shores” is as anthemic as it is melancholic and reflective because a new beginning is also a farewell.
With Nathan Henderson on vocals and guitar, Robert Crosbie on guitar and vocals, Ian McGinn on guitar, Asia Wolf on keyboards and vocals, David Hilliard on bass and vocals, and Dave Murray on drums, this sextet brings a wealth of musical prowess to the table. Recorded at Trackmix Studio in Dublin, Ireland, “New Shores (Radio Edit)” exudes craftsmanship and commendable attention to detail.
