Nineteen by Mardi Lumsden: Review
When this synth-laden music started playing and then kicked into an amped-up boost on my Spotify, I was blown away and had to gather myself to keep listening and see where it goes. The song is “Nineteen”, sung by a mature low-toned dreamy femme voice, accompanied by a backdrop of amazing synthesizers, and I was hooked!
Honestly, I wasn’t ready for this, but since the app knows best what to suggest to me, I’m glad I came across this shimmering new track. It’s certainly hip and fresh and has a nostalgic effect to it that’ll have you swimming and forging forward. And I’m a total sucker for such disco-fied tracks that just make you groove from the get-go! If you’re in the space for it, and I hope you are, Mardi Lumsden, the artist will have you moving your body to its rhythm. Matching its cover art, the lyrics are evocative of outer space metaphors that are brilliantly youthful, and vibrant and make the song even more enjoyable to memorize and sing along to! Oh, I’m not kidding, I would wholeheartedly learn the lyrics, and dance along to it on a Homecoming dance with my friends in high school. If only I could go back!
See, this is what this Brisbane-based Nu disco pop musician Mardi Lumsden does to you with her infectious release “Nineteen”. Promise me you’ll give it a try and come back to let me know if you could resonate with how I felt!
