No Lover by Jewelia: Review
A little bit of sugar, a little bit of spice, and a whole lotta flair. ‘No Lover’ by Jewelia is a stylish pop song, that speaks a language we’re all familiar with, and that’s sensational. Hearing her track made me go into deep thought because I was rather speechless listening to such a funky number. The beginning of the track is filled with a high-range vocal harmony before Jewelia dives right into an insane verse. Man, the entire is smooth like butter. This is what good music should sound like, what are we listening to nowadays fam? It should always be stuff like Jewelia’s No Lover!
The music and lyrics of No Lover feel passionate and personal. It’s equal part rhythmic and moody. I was so amazed by the disco-style guitar playing, the strumming part is one of my favorite methods of playing the instrument. The bass is also pretty exciting and adds a unique upbeat flavor along with the beats.
Jewelia is a London-based musician and producer. The story of ‘No Lover’ is about the internal struggle between desiring to be in a relationship and rejecting the idea because of all the other things going on in your life. Inspiring phrases like “No, I don’t need no boyfriend” and “I’ve got a million troubles and you’re not one of them” serve as highlights in the song’s chorus. Jewelia’s feelings and expressions in music are very natural, and I believe she’s heading for the major leagues.
