Nora Polinnia Releases Emotional Song “Gotham”
Nora Polinnia is a brave Ukrainian singer and composer. On October 21, 2022, her first single, “Gotham,” came out. The singer has been creating music since she was merely 7 years old! She’s got a natural voice and brings her A-game in this moving symphonic pop number. Following their separation due to the war in their native Ukraine, Nora Polinnia and her friend Martin Nikov established “Gotham” as a creative outlet to support their people. The musicians were childhood friends in Kyiv and high school bandmates as well. Unfortunately, the Russian invasion put a halt on their classes last winter, and, unable to attend school, the artists were dispersed to different parts of the world.
As an artist, ‘Gotham’ was Nora’s method of exhibiting nationalism and the agony of her homeland due to the ongoing Russian crimes, while also offering the Ukrainian people a glimmer of hope. The song is devoted to Ukraine and its valor. In the spring of 2022, she started working on “Gotham” while also attending online lectures. Not able to meet in person, she and Martin spoke via text across time zones. While Martin was producing the song in Europe, Nora was in the United States writing the lyrics and completing the melody. So much has happened, and the musicians were also attempting to finish their junior year of high school. Later on, Nora developed a plot for the video, which she then gave to her friends, who were also artists able to illustrate and animate. As for the song itself, it’s a blend of noir pop with a moving rhythm at its core. Nora’s passionate voice fits a chilling cadence as she sings her heart out in the piece. Aside from that, elegant symphonies accompany the singer, and aggressive percussions follow in the second half of ‘Gotham’. From there, an intense atmosphere emerges, and a cinematic thrill is activated. In my opinion, the tune feels like a part of the musician’s soul coming into display with a resonant melody. It’s creative brilliance and poetic precision at its finest. Ultimately, the musical bond is hard to break and tough to replicate. All the while, as we hear the tale of “Gotham”, we are enchanted not only by the music and voice but also by the track’s narrative.
Nora has released one new single and announced the release of two extended plays (EPs). Both of these will be part of the “Past Chronicles, Current Chronicles, and Future Chronicles” trilogy. The chronicles tell the story of the artist’s childhood, including what it was like to fall in love during times of war. Furthermore she revealed the title of a book, “18 YEARS OF R(AGE),” on the day that she also turned 18 years old. The musician worked on the book for a few months before the announcement. It’s pretty exciting news from this rising artist. If you’re wondering about the type of music she creates, don’t wait around, folks; it is available for streaming! You can check out the song here.
