Since August 6, Skimo has been back with his latest Lo-Fi and Trip-Hop record, Northern Lights EP. Fans have enjoyed his dance-based music, now they will get to enjoy their relaxation sessions with this new EP.
Northern Lights EP gets it going with its title track that blends calmness with suave swagger and luscious, funky grandiose. From its immersive beginning, it carries on with persistent, steady trip-hop beats. Then the brass starts blowing and wailing with its soft passion. It oozes desire but the soft, delicate and vulnerable female voice emerges and wins us over.
โDo Yahโ opens with more clarity. The music twinkles and shimmers reflectively, and then the trippy beats drop. They hit and bring a rustling momentum to the music. Just then the vocalizing and ranging echoes of sensational vocals take over and provide a more humane and organic aspect to the electronic music.
We move on to โDestiny Tooโ which keys along the music like shimmering piano notes rippling along lightly and sprightly over the groovy beats. The song dynamizes as the music flickers and frolicks softly. On top of that, thereโs an imminent haze echoing under the exotic jazzy music which really helps us stay connected to the flow.
Finalizing Northern Lights EP is โBlueberry Moonโ which is ultimately calm, even as the beats thump hard. Skimo injects a distorted baby voice that sings hypnotically to our ears, entraining us with the trip hop.
If you love atmospheric Lo-Fi and Trip Hop music or music to focus to, Northern Lights EP by Skimo is just for you.
