Of Muses and Music by KIMMERLY: Album Review
Carson Ruby Kimmerly is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter. The young artist, who began her musical career as a classical violinist, has expanded into writing, playing, and recording her own musical compositions under the name KIMMERLY. The artist’s album “Of Muses and Music” is a dreamy one filled with experimental pop numbers glamorized by the tune of the acoustic guitar and violin. But, most eloquently, the singer’s soft and soothing aura graces the atmosphere like a gentle lullaby.
Initiating the album with tracks such as “Dynasty” and “Mona Lisa” I was engulfed in the artistic prowess of KIMMERLY. “Dynasty” is a trippy baroque pop-styled track with a heartfelt ode that pertains to a mellow vibe. The track encompasses echoed vocals with harmonies, alongside a light percussion piece and violins, ultimately it builds its ambient space remarkably. And in “Mona Lisa” an intriguing rhythm piece with experimental percussion pieces is present. It is surrounded by vocal segments representing the main rhythm passage and is similar to acapella music.
“Waterlily” the sensational folk-pop track, and the most streamed one from the album is a touching number to not miss out on. The singer’s allure here is crystal clear, and she manages to flow with a fine spirit in the track’s transitions and verse structures. In more dramatic tunes such as “Starry Nights”, a melancholic aura presents itself in a hauntingly beautiful manner through subtle acoustic chords. KIMMERLY’s album “Of Muses and Music” has a whimsical grip on art and poetry. The wonderful instrumentation especially the violin sections was breathtaking to hear, and we await more from this delightful artist.
