Flee from Utah rides through the Old and Broken in their latest EP. Released on February 25th, 2024, Old and Broken gets to the heart of rock n roll with grazing, infectious melodies.
The opening track, “We Woke Up,” kicks things off with a bang, as grinding guitars drive Ben Thompson’s desperate plea to revive a faltering relationship. With raw emotion and energy, the band delivers a powerful performance. The urgency in the vocals and the driving rhythm create an electrifying atmosphere that draws you in from the very first chord.
Moving on to “The Leaves Left,” the band continues to deliver hard-hitting melodies and fierce vocals. Gnarled guitars shred through the airwaves while Thompson’s words are pronounced with power and conviction. The drums pound relentlessly, adding to the intensity of the music and driving the song forward with unbridled energy.
Closing out the EP is “So We’ll Sleep,” a track that slows things down slightly while still maintaining the EP’s overall momentum. The vocals take on a contemplative tone, trailing slowly but sharply over the driving guitars and thumping drums. There’s a reflection in the lyrics as the band explores themes of closure and acceptance. It’s a fitting end to an EP packed with emotion and energy from start to finish.
With influences ranging from Blink 182 to Green Day, Flee from Utah has been powering rock since 2015 in the music scene. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the band, Old and Broken will leave you craving more from Flee from Utah.
