Oops I Got Sad by Little Champion: Review
Clean indie tunes are perfect to unwind after a long day. Add in a bit of math rock, and the mix is just right. Little Championโs track, โOops I Got Sadโ sets this theme perfectly. The melodic passages of emo, intertwined with some minimal funk guitar bits make this song a worthwhile one, and a polished one as well.
I want the guitaristโs tone, man, itโs truly something special. Not too much gain, and keeping the clean tone intact as well. Just enough so that the chords can be clearly heard and make the songโs essence straightforward. Little embellishments as such made โOops I Got Sadโ a terrific tune. Even though the progressions were minimal, the simplicity of it can get anyone hooked. In terms of the vocal sequences, it was quite heartwarming to hear, but at the same time, a distinct aura of sadness was present. Aside from this, my favorite segment was the bridge, the guitar parts were golden and had such a sentimental aspect to them by playing the lower notes.
Dustin Goldklangโs solo work in Little Champion is inspiring. He wrote all the material and produced and mastered it as well in his home studio. The musical creativity, vocabulary, and intention were pleasant to witness. One personโs melodic knowledge coming alive in the form of indie and math rock is always a thumbs up for me, and if I were you, wouldnโt pass on it too.
