Other Side of Peace by Maluscomas: Album Review
Amit Vyas channels electrifying solos from his trusty guitar as Maluscomas in the album โOther Side of Peaceโ. His playstyle reminds me of the bravado and tone of David Gilmour and a bit of Petrucci is thrown in there as well for the metal-heavy tracks of the album. Thereโs a range of emotions present in this nine-piece album, and it delighted me immensely.
The album opens up with โThe Beginningโ an emotional solo filled with pain and beauty. Getting a glimpse of the technique and tone of Maluscomas got me excited. Moving on to more heavy tracks such as โChaosโ put me in a state of reflection as well as a frenzy to headbang. The track has a remarkable combination of soft sections before launching into an expensive djent-infused brutal number. In โBlue Skiesโ I got some serious Gilmour vibes, especially from Pink Floydโs Dark Side of The Moon album, Maluscomas truly went all in with the guitar bending and putting the right amount of force on his play style. Also, the accompanying piano rhythm had a nice touch.
Nearing the end of the album, tracks such as โThe Calm Afterโ has a very tragic theme to them. The music sounds beautifully bleak, and the melancholic essence took a shine on the bluesy solos. The final track โRebuildโ was the pinnacle of Maluscomaโs musical composition. It incorporated everything from meaningful bass lines, to serene acoustic melodies, and jaw-dropping alternative metal guitar solos.
