Our Good Name by Tyler Elden: Review
Tyler Elden released a sorrowful song named ‘Our Good Name,” which portrays his kind and sensitive personality. This song is emotional and will make you cry. It tells the story of a family that is being evicted from their neighborhood and the destiny of their newborn child.
You could imagine dismal and sad music with such a serious topic. It is, but with softer edges and a greater sense of sorrow. This track portrays the heartbreaking narrative of a family being cast out of their town and the destiny of their unborn child. Interestingly, while the topic of his music is melancholic, Elden’s melodies are not quite gloomy. Lyrically, ‘Our Good Name’ focuses on a desperate theme, and the melody combines sensitivity with a complex rhythm. The mix of guitar, drums, and Elden’s raspy voice makes your heart hurt while also sadly sharing a sense of hopefulness. With strong rock inspirations, Elden pays tribute to alternative rock sounds from the 1990s and early 2000s.
A surprise to almost no one, Tyler Elden’s talent to convey a narrative via song is evident once again, with ‘Our Good Name’ which delves into the life of an impoverished, ostracized family. The vocal harmonies also help to bring the story’s emotions to life. Do give this song a listen if you want a fresh breath of air in the rock genre.
