Peachy Keen by Detention: Review
Alternative rock and Punk are two of the most influential genres in the history of music. Adding to their catalog of high-energy melodies is Ohio rock band Detention. Oh, they’re an ecstatic bunch all right, and immensely talented too as evident from their stunning track “Peachy Keen.” It’s a fascinating blend of soft acoustic chords, and a vast transition into a powerful punk rock section followed by soft piano bits. All that, and a sensational vocalist leading the helm.
Since the 95th Oscars were recently hosted, and a certain Sci-fi flick won a bunch of awards, I’m gonna use a reference here for all of you folks. So, in that regard Detention’s song “Peachy Keen” has plenty of instrumental diversity and is “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” It’s got a fair share of raw guitars, groovy basslines, thunderous drumming, and to top it all off some chill piano segments too! I truly didn’t expect so much from punk rockers Detention, and their unique take on the genre is what’s needed to cement its presence further.
At first, I imagined “Peachy Keen” by Detention to be a folk song with a fingerstyle guitar arrangement. Indeed, as the track progressed, a war-like percussion began, and heavy distortion guitars entered the scene, creating a musical chaos that was lovely to witness. Altogether, the melody and cadence were stellar, and these youthful artists have a bright future ahead of them. Do check out the tune “Peachy Keen” by Detention folks!
