Southwest Michiganโs Vineyard Chicks, the sister trio of Kayla, Trie, and Bunkie, step into new emotional territory with their latest single, โPower in the Pain,โ released on August 29, 2025. With their energetic live sets and classic rock covers, the band began carving out their own path in 2024 with โCrank It Upโ and โMichigan Sands.โ While those tracks nodded to vintage rock and hometown nostalgia, this new release flips the script with an unflinching dive into vulnerability, resilience, and the hard-earned strength born from suffering.
The track opens with elegant, almost fragile keyboard tones gracefully floating in. Cymbals shimmer sharply, punctuating the silence with urgency. The singersโ voices arrive and go layered and merged, as thicker, more emotional voices sing over a higher, lighter voice. They sing soulfully and emotionally, stripping bare their vulnerabilities and create a dual perspective of despair and hope. This layering becomes the emotional architecture of the song, illustrating how expansiveness and dimensionality of pain.
They sing, โI found the power in the pain,โ as revelations come. The delivery makes it sound like the words are being discovered in real time, fragile yet defiant. The thick guitar riffs that enter later rather ground the song, as they bring grit to its soaring harmonies. As the chorus swells, the contrast between piano grace and rock propulsion underscores the trackโs central paradox of strength forged in weakness.
โPower in the Painโ shows us that even in breaking, thereโs rebuilding. Check it out on Spotify.
