dom ultra debuted his newest eight-track album, “PRESENTING: ROY HUNTER,” on March 8, 2024, after two years of production. This album will knock your socks off with soundscapes that blend folk music and hip-hop. A blend of artistical inspirations from dom ultra’s favorite artists, Bon Iver and Roc Marciano, as well as his family and the people he lost, “PRESENTING: ROY HUNTER” encapsulates the raw essence of dom ultra, making this album the ultimate debut.
“PENGUINS” kickstarts this album with a track featuring artist Sonnel Hill, which has a lot of glitchy sound effects. The latter half of the track features Sonnel Hill’s soulfully emotive verses where she talks about a future that is in her reigns.
“JOB TOMORROW” is the shortest track on this album, which has folk sounds sandwiched between dom’s assertive verses, while “DIFFERENT LENSES” is by the singer Precious Omigie and has spine-chilling, high-pitched, soulful vocals that are about letting someone special go and trying to “understand” why it had to happen through a different lens and coming in terms with it.
“HOW DIS LOOK” and “JUMPTHEGUN” brings this album to a close with the former featuring artists Jay Indigo, and Hannah Clare, an infectious track with electrifying beats.
Overall, this debut album “PRESENTING: ROY HUNTER” truly reflects the two-year hard work that was put into it all while providing a unique musical experience.
