Thessaloniki producer V.A.T has stepped into a new era with his latest release, Press Play, which dropped on August 29, 2025. Known for weaving melodic synths with pulsing beats, he takes the reins here not only in composition and production but also in mixing for the very first time. Featuring the lush vocals of Eljona Sinjari and drawing clear inspiration from electronic greats like Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, and The Prodigy, this EP aims to get under your skin and make you move. And truth be told, it succeeds.
The opening track “Intro” sets the mood like a sunrise after a restless night, as thumping drums and winding synths snake around shimmering layers while Sinjari’s ethereal voice floats above in a featherlight haze. It’s delicate but exhilarating, hinting that what’s to follow won’t just be music, but a crafted experience. By the time we land on “How Can I Forget U,” one of the artist’s favorites, the pace steadies, and a duet takes center stage. The interplay between the male and female vocals feels like a dialogue across time and distance, the refrain circling like two people who can’t escape each other’s gravity, like a moth to a flame.
Then comes the standout, “Feel the Night,” the other of the two favorite tracks, where rumbling beats and sharp buzzing synths give way to an almost cinematic shimmer. The vocals here are rich and sensual, like velvet stretched over steel, getting us to lose themselves in the pulse.
Altogether, Press Play immerses us in a carefully mixed sonic trip that proves V.A.T is hitting his stride, both as composer and producer.
