Redpalm drops enticing new song titled ‘Mine’
It’s not a coincidence that ‘Mine’ is the third song on the EP Unspoken. In actuality, the third stage of a breakup is described in this song. The painful fall from grace came first, followed by acceptance. The learning stage follows that. discovering how to proceed to the following chapter. For example, “learning to adore the sound of my feet marching away from ashen love,” as the song quotes.
Redpalm intended for the music video to highlight the upbeat nature of the song. There is sunshine after a downpour. Last but not least, that every painful experience contains a priceless lesson to treasure.
She wanted the music video to tell the tale of a girl who is encountering challenges in uncharted territory because this is true in all facets of life. But each time she feels disoriented and confused, she receives a message containing a valuable lesson. This is to show that it is when we are at our lowest points that we learn the most.
The music video opens with a girl who appears to be having difficulty with her (medical) studies on “takotsubo,” or the broken heart syndrome. It serves as a metaphor for discovering how to mend a damaged heart. She appears overworked and stressed, and the room is alarmingly red. But as soon as she closes her eyes, she is taken somewhere else:
The forest represents mystery, transformation, isolation, and loss.
The sea is a common symbol for recovery.
The automobile stands for liberation and regaining power.
These three locations correspond to the three stages that EP Unspoken covers. There are several allusions to the ‘BlackNBlue’ music video in the song: Redpalm was resting on the ground in ‘BlackNBlue’, surrounded by drugs; in contrast, she is now lying atop books that depict the learning process.
Redpalm finally opens her eyes in her original room, as if given another chance to realize her goal. This awakening is a pledge of rising hope.
