The post-punk alternative indie rock band, Movment released their 3rd and latest album, Reinvention, this Nov 24. The band delves into the complexities of life with a sense of unease. The band tries to aurally expose the discomfiting feeling renaissance must be, yet that is what makes the process so dire and desperate to be achieved.
The album kicks off with “I Believe In Noise,” a haunting opening that quickly transforms as drums thump and guitars maintain a consistent brooding atmosphere. The high and passionate vocals contribute to the intensity of the track, echoing the refrain, “I Believe In Noise.” The song captures the essence of the album’s theme, inviting listeners to embrace the disquieting yet compelling nature of life.
The titular track, “Reinvention” brings forth crashing drums and riffing guitars, creating a pulsating energy. A subtle darkwave synth adds an almost imperceptible layer, enhancing the overall atmospheric experience. The gnarly vocals guide the listener on a journey of reinvention. As the song progresses, it transitions into a slow, glistening keyboard outro, leaving a contemplative and lingering impact.
The final track maintains the album’s thematic intensity, featuring melodic, gnarly riffs and rhythmic drumming that ground the song. The gravelly vocals lead the listener on a hypnotic path, concluding with an enigmatic and thought-provoking note.
Recorded in n Ireland, mixed by Alex Borwick, and mastered by Jerome Schmitt at The Airlab, the lineup contributes to the album with drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, synths, and programming.
