Reverie..From Then Till Now opens a diary thatโs been filling up for decades, then finally being read out loud. San Francisco artist Michellar steps into the spotlight with REVERIE..FROM THEN TILL NOW, an 11-track collection born from a life steeped in folk, choir harmonies, Latin records, rock bands, fine art, and years of silence before the songs finally came flooding back. Working closely with producer Tobias Wilson, sheโs shaped those late-night ideas and revived melodies into warm, carefully crafted soundscapes that trace a path from childhood dreams to hard-won self-acceptance. You can hear the hours stolen from sleep, the fingers sore from relearning guitar, and the sense that making is a promise kept to her younger self.
The album opens with โItโs Another Year,โ a gentle breath of renewal. The song is a gentle song with relaxing strumming guitars, and the singer, with her high, soft voice, sings elegantly. More glistening percussions come like star dust. And the music elevates. Singing of time moving, kids growing, and dreams stretching toward the stars, it feels like watching fireworks from a quiet porch โ wistful but hopeful.
A few tracks in, โIntersectionโ slides in with a different kind of glow. The song has Tobias Wilson, with his soothing voice, singing gently over gentle chords. Meanwhile, building rumbling drums hit like momentous ocean waves, increasing the tension and exhilaration. When he lets slip, โKiss you once or twice, I donโt really mind, I love to/We started stopping all the traffic,โ the whole thing feels like an exhilarating, dreamy rom-com climax happening right in the middle of a busy street.
Later, โGet Me There to Churchโ leans into rootsy romance. It opens with warm acoustic strumming and a steady rhythm that instantly conjures small-town mornings, then unfolds into a harmony-soaked plea to โget me there when church bells ring.โ
By the end of REVERIE..FROM THEN TILL NOW, youโre walking alongside someone who finally decided their voice was worth the noise.
