Earth Goddesses is Becky Raisman’s love letter to strength, joy, and community, wrapped in a bright, approachable indie-pop glow. Based in Mount Pleasant in the United States, Becky turns everyday inspiration—songwriting classes, late-night TV marathons, and old episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation—into songs that cheer you on rather than weigh you down.
Across the EP Earth Goddesses, she leans into themes of living boldly, shining unapologetically, and celebrating women of every kind, making the project feel as welcoming as a group hug at the end of a long day. Recorded between Sound Farm Studios and a home setup, the record carries a warm, handmade charm that conveys that this is music built to uplift, not intimidate.
The opener “Moonlight Goddesses” sets the tone with an easy rhythm. The singer has a soft voice, and she sings in sync with the catchy, beating drums and shimmery, fuzzy guitar. She sings of women of every kind (transgender women too) dancing together and “breaking chains of ignorance.” She sings kind of meditatively in a flat tone, allowing you to bathe in her aura. It feels like a nighttime anthem for a dance floor where everyone is safe, seen, and celebrated.
Then “Live It Up, Live It Loud” cranks the energy. This song is much more pulsating and fun with a bustling rhythm section, with glistening cymbals and catchy guitar riffs. The singer sings more catchily and enjoyably. It’s the soundtrack to saying yes to yourself, turning the volume up on your life, and not apologizing for it.
By the time “Shining Through My Window” rolls in, the EP softens into something tender. The song is much more relaxing and charming with soothing piano and steady thumps of drums, and the singer sings more gently and sings that someone she loves, whose light is always shining on her. The percussion comes lightly shaking in the back, and the electric guitar plays a soothing, winding melodic solo.
Altogether, Earth Goddesses feels like an encouragement spell set to music — bright, kind, and determined to leave you a little lighter than it found you.
