Rob Lea’s self-titled debut album bursts with energetic riffs, catchy hooks, and charismatic vocals, firmly establishing the independent artist as a fresh force in the pop-rock genre. Lea, who recently broke into the UK Official Charts, offers a blend of raw, infectious energy with intriguing tracks.
Opening the album, “Time of My Life” sets the tone with witty, upbeat lyrics delivered with spirited urgency. The track starts in a sparse, spacey atmosphere, with only building riffs to support Lea’s soaring vocals. It becomes a raucous anthem, with driving guitars and pounding rhythms underscoring the message of embracing life unapologetically as Lea desires to “have the time of my life right before I die.”
“All Your Crazy” kicks off with lush, shimmering riffs and Lea’s soothing yet engaging vocals. His voice flows effortlessly over the driving beat, building towards an energetic crescendo as the electric guitar intensifies.
In “Call on Me,” Lea takes a more reflective turn, delivering a heartfelt ode to a past friendship. The track starts softly, with a serene atmosphere. Then the beat picks up, transforming into a powerful rock ballad with electrifying rhythms. Lea’s passionate vocals evoke both sincerity and strength as he sings about offering support to someone during dark times, even after a breakup.
One of the album’s catchiest offerings, “My Girl” is an energetic and gritty pop-rock anthem. The sharp delivery and pounding drums, paired with infectious guitar riffs, create a toe-tapping, head-nodding rhythm. Lea’s lyrics are direct and possessive, warning others to stay away from “his girl” while exuding confidence. Check out Rob Lea’s debut on Spotify.
