Room with a view by Alex Zethson: Review
The Swedish keyboardist Alex Zethson has released a splendid new tune titled ‘Room with a view’. Zethson, who’s renowned for his work with bands such as Angles, VO, and Tropiques, as well as his collaborations with Mariam the Believer, Sven Wunder, and Fire! Orchestra, puts his expertise and talent to the forefront on this country-influenced, laid-back instrumental.
The song, which was produced by Zethson and Anton Toorell, contains a stripped-down groove laid down by Torbjorn Zetterberg on bass and Konrad Agnas on drums, and Toorell’s brilliant acoustic guitar performance. Zethson’s warm synth organ chords and floating MS20 synth lines offer an additional layer of depth and texture to the song, and his soloing is particularly noteworthy, with a fiery and swirling manner that recalls Alice Coltrane’s many organ experiments.
Overall, “Room with a view” is a beautifully constructed and calming composition that will appeal to instrumental music aficionados and those seeking a peaceful yet exciting escape. The combination of Zethson’s keyboard work and Toorell’s guitar, as well as the sturdy foundation given by Zetterberg’s bass and Agnas’s drums, results in an amazing sonic experience that takes you back to the 80s synthwave days. If you’re a fan of Zethson’s earlier work, you’ll absolutely love this piece and if you’re new to his music this song will make you check out his other works.
