Second Album Crisis by Asaf Ashkenazy: EP Review
Asaf Ashkenazy’s ‘Second Album Crisis’ is a well-crafted and versatile EP, showcasing the musician’s unique view of the world through his music. With a mix of rock, pop, and blues, this album takes listeners on a musical journey through six segments, four in English and two in Hebrew, touching on current affairs, hope, and love.
The extended play’s two singles, ‘2 Stars’ and ‘Cool Wind’, are a testament to Ashkenazy’s ability to create enchanting and mythical music with simple compositions. However, the standout track on the EP is undeniably ‘Out Of This World’, a classic rock-inspired song with memorable arrangements and melodies that elevate the already powerful vocals. Ashkenazy’s vocals are particularly strong on this track, and the guitar solo towards the end is a standout moment. His collaboration with producer Shahar Kaufman continues in this EP, with the addition of drummer Shai Baruch and keyboardist Moshe Levy, resulting in a diverse and exciting musical world. The extended play clocks in at just over 21 minutes, making it a short but impactful listen.
Anybody searching for a musical adventure that is both diverse and unexpected should give ‘Second Album Crisis’ a try. This extended play by Asaf Ashkenazy is an excellent example of his skills as a musician and producer, showcasing his ability to make moving, emotionally resonant music.
