Doll Riot is back to get you moshing in your living room. They’re taking on PJ Harvey’s iconic track “Sheela-Na-Gig” with all the ferocity and attitude you’d expect from this San Diego-based all-girl rock group.
The song explodes with shimmering guitar lines that build like a sonic boom before erupting into a full-on sonic assault. Drummer Lillee Gillum lays down a beat tighter than a drumhead while the bass throbs with the fury of a thousand girl gangs. As the song progresses, the instrumentation only gets more intense, with blazing guitars and pounding drums driving the track forward with relentless force.
But Elena Olszak, Doll Riot’s vocalist, truly steals the show. Her voice is a revelation—dripping with lush sensation, one minute smooth and rich, the next a chaotic, punky, energetic belting that will knock you flat on your back. She commands the song with infectious energy, weaving through dynamic highs and lows that perfectly capture the rebellious spirit of the original.
Doll Riot is the real deal. They’ve already clocked in nearly 100 shows, sharing the stage with legends like Agent Orange and Poison Hearts. They’re carrying the torch of riot girl heroes like L7, Hole, and Bikini Kill with an exhilarating and terrifying fury.
And the best part? Their upcoming LP, Grage, drops on June 14. It is produced by the legendary Alex Estrada (Touché Amore, Joyce Manor, Rotting Out). If “Sheela-Na-Gig” is any indication, Grage will bring the full ride to the blaze.
Pre-order Grage‘ now. Catch them live, playing Punk Rock Bowling at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center this May.
