Ryan O’Connell’s “Snail” is a refreshing and introspective indie-rock gem that invites listeners to slow down and appreciate the simple pleasures of life.
Released on July 28, The song’s laid-back vibe and thoughtful lyrics create a soothing and reflective atmosphere, making it the perfect soundtrack for a leisurely afternoon. Mastered at Glow Studios, O’Connell’s versatile musicianship is on full display in “Snail,” as he has given his hand on all the instrumentals(guitar, bass, drums, keys) here. And of course, he sings it too.
The instrumentals are uplifting, they riff and drive consistently and engagingly while the singer sings with his voice suspended over paced drums. His delivery helps you soothe and get entranced in the relaxation.
Through a narration of being left behind until the character meets this girl, who is a snail, who makes him feel like he has all the time in the world, the singer shows us that we need to embrace a slower life and heal ourselves. But then he eventually leaves her too because he doesn’t have a shell on his body, like her. And this shows that we are free to go for our dreams and enjoy ourselves too.
“Snail”’s production is clean and well-balanced, with a focus on highlighting O’Connell’s songwriting and musicianship. The overall atmosphere is one of warmth and nostalgia, reminiscent of the classic indie-rock bands that inspired O’Connell.
“Snail” is a standout track from Ryan O’Connell’s catalog, and must be checked out.
