Multi-instrumentalist Eddie Cohn brings to light the pervasive issue of gun violence that is plaguing the USA in his newest pop-rock single, ‘Stop Waving the Gun.’. Writer and producer Eddie Cohn brings ‘Stop Waving the Gun’ to life with help from members Brett Farkas, Sean Hurley, Jake Reed, Philip Peterson, and Kevin Penner.
This emotionally charged track compellingly fuses elements of drums, bass, and guitar and draws on inspiration from giants such as Pearl Jam, U2, and Tom Petty. Starting off with a beat-setting drum solo, ‘Stop Waving the Gun’ takes off with the high-noted but strong vocals of Cohn. The frantic beat alongside the frustration expressed through the lyrics perfectly encapsulates the dilemma Cohn is facing, especially given the violent nature he finds himself surrounded with.
Recorded in Los Angeles with contributions from Seattle, ‘Stop Waving the Flag’ is a powerhouse of instrumentals, and Cohn’s expertise and control in both his use of the range of instruments and vocals is noteworthy. The lyrics are also especially poignant with the way they highlight how mental problems are the underlying issues of such disasters. Fascinatingly, though, during the recording, Cohn had found his studio under attack by his cats, and so if a mew or two is heard, know that the cats’ valiant efforts had not been in vain.
