Stories on a Page by Steep Steps: Review
Steep Steps is a band from Baltimore that plays dream pop and electric music, and they just recently released their track “Stories on a Page.” Ami Dang contributed her vocals to the track. It was produced by Tony Correlli, who is also the songwriter for Steep Steps, and the song demonstrates the band’s style of blending organic and synthetic instruments together.
“Stories on a Page” starts off with a hum and keyboard tune, and then enters the beautifully sounded vocalist, Ami Dang, who also plays sitar in between the tracks, changes the whole vibe of the song in a very impressive way. The bass and the drum beats are well composed too. The experimentation that they have done in this song is impressive, the way they mixed the sitar and the way it turns out to be something like an Indian classical song in some sections is plain genius. The transitions, swinging from eastern to western with ease in it were very interesting.
The track took me on an interesting journey to a place that I would like to visit frequently, and the combination of the genres is very innovative and calming, which will get the attention of the people who listen to it. It was a very well-thought-out composition, and the vocal and the sitar gelled so well with it that it felt like it was meant to be.
