Straight on Down the Line by Anton Commissaris: Review
Anton Commissaris is a San Francisco Bay Area-based composer, pianist, and singer. Being an enthusiast of various musical genres, Anton’s view of Jazz is held in high regard. The melodic feel is close to his heart, which he understood from an early age. “Straight on Down the Line” is a new song by the artist. It is a gutsy, daring trip back to the singer’s partner, his true self, and the love of his life.
Following the essence of country music with a smooth jazz persona, Anton graces our ears with the tune of “Straight on Down the Line”. If you’re a hopeless romantic, the track shall promote its “easy listening” take quite comfortably to you. Whether it’s the subtle guitar sequences or the bouncing piano piece, you can’t deny the flair of the artist. The piano arrangement, has the charm of theater infused with storytelling, all pertaining to a certain smooth jazz feel. Or, if you’re feeling a bit more dramatic, let the singer’s voice be the soundtrack to all your woes.
There’s a delightful calmness in Anton’s voice. At times it feels like he is expressing a powerful ode right from the depths of his heart, and at other times it feels as though he is speaking to the audience about his tale. Whichever the case is when the singing stops and the bluesy guitar solo enters, it is all about what the heart wants, filled with a bendy tension.
