South London indie duo Arliston concludes the year with their latest sensational and sultry release, โThawed.โ The duo, Jack Ratcliffe (vocalist & instrumentalist) and George Hasbury (instrumentalist & producer) unveiled this track on Nov 24 via their own label, Sob Story Records.
โThawedโ opens with crooning vocals set against guitar melodies and pulses, establishing a captivating ambiance from the first notes. The soft and tender delivery, coupled with icy undertones, reverberates Arlistonโs delicate yet chilling atmosphere.
High and raspy male vocals sing delicately amid angular drums and snarling basslines, contributing to the immersive melodic atmosphere. Mixed and co-produced by Brett Shaw(The Foals, Florence and the Machine), the composition hypnotizes with a sound that the band calls โAmericana with a down-tempo British indieโ flair. This is how Arliston skillfully balances a highly resonant tenderness with a connoted intensity.
Vocalist Jack Ratcliffe has stated the song depicts a character going round and round mentally and getting claustrophobic as they are consumed in worldwide negativity. The chorus explains how unhealthy coping strategies only lead to another relapse.
Coming right after the EP How In Heaven, โThawedโ brings a change to Arlistonโs music. Withย 2.7 million streams on Spotify, BBC Radio One, and Amazing Radio features and editorial placements on notable playlists, they are ending the year with satisfaction.
