The Neighbourhood by Vigilantes: EP Review
Vigilantes is here to make waves with their new Brit rock EP “The Neighborhood”.
Setting the tone for what’s to come, the EP begins with the self-titled ‘The Neighbourhood,’ a tune that begins breezy and open, synth pads fill the air while the staccato piano pulls you into the deliciously indie vocals. ‘Better Man’ follows, with a slightly different tone with clean, crisp, and full-of-glee vocals. It shifts from a robust chorus to a quiet halt, making you anticipate more. In “Secret” they showcase their riff skill, transitioning to “Drawing Auras” which features a powerful chorus and crunchy synths. ‘Tigerwall’ is peak Vigilantes, with warm vocals, intimate lyrics, and a rip-roaring backdrop – the kind that makes you feel good to head-bang and engage in a concert crowd.
It’s nice to see a British rock band that isn’t scared to experiment with tones and textures in their music because Vigilantes has the effort to twist a decade’s worth of Brit rock elements into something fresh and exciting! Honestly, I could sit here and break each song down for you one by one, give you the full narrative but there’s nothing like experiencing the magic of good, artful, and wholesome music. You have got to tune into “The Neighborhood”, to get a load of this burgeoning indie powerhouse The Vigilantes!
