The Occasion by The Astronomers: Album Review
With fresh beats, and the sensational aura of indie music The Astronomers bring forth their charming album “The Occasion”. Consisting of eleven upbeat and heartwarming numbers, The Astronomers truly showcase an incredible ability in songwriting and melodic skill.
We begin our ecstatic journey in “Bad Type”, a piano-driven pop track that just vibes continuously. The singer’s soothing voice puts a heavy emphasis on the audible punch of the song, and when the beat drops it feels like a non-stop party that is a total jam. Moving on to more guitar-driven tracks such as “Hotel Rooms”, we are blessed with a delightful reverbed guitar piece that is the main rhythm section on loop. The Astronomers have a wonderful sense of melodic freedom, they bring forth a bit of indie pop and EDM into their performance! So, when the uplifting portion comes on, all you wanna do is jump up and wave your hands to the catchy bassline. The album explores a more emotional angle in “Ruin My Day”, it is filled with a more somber tone and minor chord progressions. The harmonies and piano melody altogether sound really heartfelt, and in between transitions when the guitar comes on, a dreamy presence is felt.
At the end of the album, tracks like “Stories of Last Summer” and “The Occasion” really bring forth a captivating tension. For instance, the first track’s beautiful guitar sequence complements its mystery and emotive grip. As for the second track, a tad bit of energy comes along with some beats and RnB style singing. So, to put it into perspective, the album was a joy to hear, and I’m sure you’ll rejoice with a similar feeling!
