“THE SINS” is the sort of track you would expect a former martial artist to make. Full of grit, fury, righteousness, self-control and enlightenment practised and performed, that’s what we expect. And the better we get with AGON being our manifesto.
The song starts with a misty whirling cinematic background music opening the song with a momentary suspenseful haze that is invaded with high intensity glitzy hip hop beats that palpitates with insanely deep timbre and gnarly, raspy voice.
The lyrics are well-crafted as they provide a clear and structured exploration of each of the seven sins. AGON dissects Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust and links them to societal behaviors and their detrimental effects. Each sin is presented with examples and consequences. He delineates how they have a destructive impact on individuals and the community.
The artist skillfully addresses the manifestations of Pride, Envy, and Wrath, detailing the ways in which these emotions can lead to ego inflation, envy-driven desires, and destructive outbursts. The verses on Sloth emphasize a lack of motivation. Meanwhile Greed is portrayed as an insatiable appetite for more than one needs.
The sections on Gluttony and Lust delve into overconsumption and the manipulation of sacred connectivity. AGON contrasts these sins with the virtues that counteract them, such as Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Gratitude, and Humility.
Every line is crisply and clearly delivered and articulated. This is not the first time for AGON to do so. He is known to send motivational and influential messages through his heavily impassioned songs. “The Sins” is only one of those messages from his latest album, A TIME OF CHANGE.
