The opening track, “holiday.,” brings the album’s theme front and center with its need for escapism, battling burnout, and navigating life’s ups and downs. Pop tunes swirl while glitzy fat beats pulse and thump up the flow of the track. But it’s the deep and luscious vocals that balance the elements with their smooth, savvy, sexy demeanor.
“Hello, Goodbye,” the third track, is a propelling pop bop that features electric guitar riffs and thumping drums. The song’s memorable lyrics and energetic arrangement make it a standout, invoking a sense of drive and ambition. “Boujee Broke,” the fifth track, takes a laid-back approach and satirizes society’s consumerist and materialist mentality.
The album’s closing track, “Winter Lights,” brings a refreshing and intense pop experience with its pulsating beats, glimmery textures, and shimmering synths. The silky smooth vocals are so passionate and intense, that they round out the album on a high note.
The award-winning, charting duo Rags and Riches is constantly rising and surprising the alt-pop scene. “I NEED A HOLIDAY” is a testament to their musical talent and ability to connect with a diverse audience.
