The Wanton String Band by The Wanton String Band: Album Review
The Wanton String Band’s music is blatantly decadent folk dance psychedelia, spanning from synth-infused trip-hop ballads to eargasmic covers of fiddle melodies. They recently published their self-titled first album, which provides a fantastic musical delight that carries the aesthetics of folk and country music.
The album’s untamed vigor meets the awe-inspiring harmonic beauty of folk music, making it simple to imagine a life away in the country, among people who dance to instruments and enjoy their festivals like there’s no tomorrow! It’s not that there’s too much going on too quickly; rather, your mind will follow and dissect each intricate layers of the pleasant stringed instruments. This first album successfully evokes scenes of country-side feasts and dance-fueled ecstasy amid flower-filled meadows. The band is true to their sound, one of a kind with a unique blend of strings in traditional soundscapes.
The Wanton String Band formed in 2016 in the United Kingdom by a group of musicians who had a desire to play original indie folk music. This is the band that will bring forth the full potential of their wonderful instruments, as they are the only ones capable of doing so. You would miss a great deal if you didn’t stream their self-titled album! To put it in an understatement, for a plethora of reasons, the Wanton String Band is the complete package.
