These Drugs by The Thing With Feathers: Review

โThese Drugsโ was released on November 4, 2022, as a single. The Thing with Features band consists of David Welcsh on vocals, Alex Hendricks on lead guitar, and Chris Roussell on drums. They follow the genres of alternative rock, indie pop, and dance powerhouse.
โThese Drugsโ are about being in an unhealthy relationship. This song is about being in the most difficult part of a toxic relationship, where you are aware of the fact that it has ended but you still cling to it for any unrealistic remaining hope there is in it. It begins with a static-sounding low-volume synth and programmed drumming, then abruptly switches to a full-fledged song. The indie pop-styled vocal with distortion guitar fillers as a backup sound enters after and is followed by the energetic chorus. The harmonizing guitar solo feels like the sound of crying. It has a different vibe to it; it is energetic, yet melancholy, and the lyrics talk about an unhealthy relationship that, at one point, most of us have been in and can relate to with no trouble.
The song creates a pumped-up atmosphere with lots of transitions. This soundscape has something about it that is just so raw, so mesmerizing, and so perfectly amazing; as a result, the experience feels complete, and it is the kind of familiarity of feeling you want other people to have as well. The listeners will enjoy this track and can relate to it too, because of its strong lyrics and great music.
