Spoonr’s latest single, “This Is Being Delivered With A Heavy Heart,” is a gut punch wrapped in shimmering guitars and raw emotion. The Glaswegian punk-pop outfit oozes vulnerability here while keeping their signature energy intact. From the opening heartbeat sound to the layered harmonies that pile up like a rising tide, it’s an emotional rollercoaster that doesn’t yanks at the heartstrings.
“This Is Being Delivered With A Heavy Heart” kicks off with a soothing, almost hypnotic guitar melody before the bassline anchors you into something deeper, heavier. Then comes Dudley’s voice—whispery, high, and gritty—delivering the verses with a reflective detachedness like someone recounting a painful memory they haven’t fully processed. But when the chorus hits, it’s like the dam bursts. His voice softens, wisps of vulnerability escaping between the lines: “This is being delivered with a heavy heart, a sympathetic heart, a human heart.” You can hear the weight behind the words, like he’s on the edge of breaking but pushing through anyway.
As the song builds, the guitars thicken, drums hit harder, and the layers of harmonies swirl into a chaotic, beautiful storm. By the end, the layers start merging, overlapping, almost frantic—like a desperate plea lost in the noise.
Lyrically, Heavy Heart is a poetic gut-check, touching on loneliness, disconnection, and a creeping sense of detachment in the modern world. Lines like “It’s sinking in, it’s building up, with an AI heart” tap into something eerily relevant—the idea of emotions being numbed, replaced, or even erased in a synthetic age. It’s thought-provoking, but never preachy, instead letting the weight of the words and the intensity of the music do the talking.
If “This Is Being Delivered With A Heavy Heart” is any indication, this next album is going to hit hard.
