AySay’s “Tu Bi Xêr Hatî” is a breathtaking exploration of life’s beginnings, offering an emotional and sensory journey sung in the oppressed language of Kurdish that bridges cultures, nature, and identity. Released on October 24, 2024, the track, which translates to “You Are Welcome” in Kurdish, celebrates birth, resilience, and the often-overlooked beauty of existence.
Produced by Aske Døssing and Grammy-nominated producer Sacha Skarbek( “Wrecking Ball” “) , “Tu Bi Xêr Hatî” captivates with a richly textured soundscape from the get go, blending organic sounds of glaciers, wind, and birds sourced from both the Nordics and the Middle East. These elements, combined with delicate tapping percussion and saz melodies, craft an atmosphere that feels alive, grounding listeners in the natural world while setting the stage for Luna Ersahin’s soulful vocal performance.
Luna’s voice, deep and grainy in the verses, slowly and sincerely builds with anticipation before effortlessly soaring into a high, ethereal falsetto during the chorus. Her vocal dexterity adds an emotional depth to the song, mirroring the transition from the mysterious unknown to the comforting embrace of belonging. The line, “A voice said to me/Fear not/I will teach you/Everything I know/A new life begins now,” performed with vocals, now powerful and resilient, encapsulates the song’s profound message of hope and connection.
Musically, the collaboration shines. Carl West Hosbond’s electric guitar and Ozan Demir’s sipsi (a traditional reed instrument) add subtle yet impactful layers to the track. At the same time, the chirping birds and immersive synth textures evoke a sense of timelessness.
AySay, with their thoughtful artistry and cultural depth, has created a piece that feels both ancient and modern, personal yet universal. Listen to it on Spotify.
