Until We’re Swallowed By The Sun by Betageist: Review
“Until We’re Swallowed By The Sun” is the latest single that marks the return of Kevin Heber in his series of ghost projects under the name Betageist. The track continues to explore the theme of dreamy, ethereal post-rock instrumental music similar to his previous work “Interference Pattern”, but in a new light. Here we get to witness a more reflective, textured, cinematic sound that takes the listeners into a ride from start to finish.
Being a longtime audio software engineer, Heber for sure knows how to construct a mesmerizing story with his music and this track is a proof. Throughout the track, there is a progessive beat that meticulously sets a different scene in your head as it speeds up or slows down and glides you into a floating cosmic space. It’s like a local train, making many stops. But it’s an enjoyable ride! The piano and electric guitar take turns to shine and tell their story as they’re playfully intertwined. This concept is excellently visualized in the Youtube music video, showing the fragility, magnificence, delicacy and breathtaking beauty of our existence in the grander scheme of the universe.
“I try to fill the sparse gap between synth-based and guitar-based instrumental genres”, he shares, “I compel story and evoke emotion”.
The musical journey of Betageist so far has been impressive and worth keeping an eye out for. He still has a long way to go, until he is swallowed by the sun. That pun is totally intended!
