Gothenburg’s Smoke Spider are back with a vengeance—literally. Their latest single, “Vengeance,” dropped on October 9, 2025, and it’s every bit the fiery, unfiltered rocker its title promises. Since their debut in 2021, the duo, producer and multi-instrumentalist Johan Granat and vocalist Göran Florström (also of Marionet and formerly Generous Maria), have made a name for themselves by fusing raw energy with irresistible melody. This time, they’ve turned the dial all the way up. “Vengeance” kicks the door open with swagger and a grin, ready to burn off betrayal in the form of a riff-heavy, adrenaline-fueled anthem.
The track wastes no time setting the scene. Grinding, churning guitars rev like an engine ready to roar, while thumping drums and sparkling cymbals create a percussive storm that keeps your pulse in sync. Then comes Florström’s gruff, powerful voice, drenched in grit. He doesn’t sing so much as command, his delivery straddling fury and fun. With a sly theatricality in his tone, he sings as if vengeance itself is smirking behind every line. The lyrics bring the classic rock with infidelity, defiance, and payback, all delivered with the self-assured wit of a man who’s done being played: “Lift the lid and what you’ll find / The vengeance coming closer.” This threat is a promise, about to be well paid.
What makes “Vengeance” tick is its unrelenting pace. It barrels forward with infectious momentum, as it turns anger euphoric. The guitars grind, the vocals soar, and the hook sticks like glue. Smoke Spider’s “Vengeance,” in 4/4 time, shows that payback sounds best when played loud.
