Giants of Genesis entered the music scene back in 2016 with the debut of their album “Weight of the World.” The band is no longer together; each member is pursuing their own musical projects. However, the same album that made their debut brought them back together to add some re-mixing and re-mastering magic to their original tracks to highlight the musical artistry of “Weight of the World.”
“Weight of the World (Re-Mix / Re-Master)” does not remove the original album’s feelings but refreshes it with modernity. “Empty Silhouettes” kickstarts this album with a thundering opening of guitar and bass layered with electronic synths and crashing drums in the background. This chaotic opening hypes the listener in anticipation of what is next, surprisingly smooth-flowing vocals. The vocals started smoothly; however, changes to gritty roaring in the chorus and high notes followed by solo guitar riffs are a testament to the singer’s vocal prowess. This rocking track will have your head banging away.
Blended with pop and heavy rock, “Fractured” is a track that is nothing short of high-energy pulsating instrumentals. The vocalist seamlessly changes his vocals back and forth between gritty tones, assertive roaring, and baritone vocals, showcasing his massive talent as well as giving the listener a wide range of sounds to groove to. This track ends with intense, deep roaring, which is like an energy drink for the ears. Tracks like “My Dark Passenger,” “Missing Pieces,” and “Dynasty” have the same chaotic energy that will make you feel like the beats combined with the raging vocals are rushing through your bloodstream, making you feel truly alive.
“The Closing Wounds,” in contrast, begins with dreamy soundscapes; however, the tune gets amped up unexpectedly, jolting the listener awake from serenity to utmost chaos. This instrumental track is a testament to the band’s ability to deliver powerful music to which you cannot help but nod your head. “The Last Sanctuary” brings this wonderfully remastered album to a close with rocking beats layered with crazy spine-chilling vocals.
Filled with an overwhelming amount of power, “Weight of the World (Re-Mix / Re-Master)” is a big step in the right direction for the group “Giants of Genesis.”
