Weird Genius and Yellow Claw return for ‘Lonely,’ which features Novia Bachmid. Weird Genius and Yellow Claw previously worked on the 2020 song “HUSH.”

‘Lonely,’ a new collaboration between Dutch DJ duo Yellow Claw and Indonesian electronic music group Weird Genius, features Indonesian singer-actress Novia Bachmid.
The single was published on streaming platforms on May 4 accompanied a music video set in a neon-lit bar dubbed ‘Hotel Barong’ (after Yellow Claw’s Amsterdam-based record label Barong Family). It is the duo’s second collaboration since 2020’s ‘HUSH.’
“I’ve waited a long time to be alone / On the hook, Bachmid sings, “Pray they don’t find me, leave no trace / Gotta disappear, keep it low key.”
Below is the video for Yellow Claw and Weird Genius’ tune “Lonely,” which features Nova Bachmid.
Yellow Claw’s most recent full-length was the 2020 album ‘Never Dies,’ which was their fourth studio album. Since then, the pair has produced a number of EPs and compilations, the most recent of which was 2021’s ‘The Holy Bassgod’ EP, which included remixes of Dysomnia’s ‘Bassgod’ and ‘Kawaii 808’ with Indonesian rapper Ramengvrl.
Weird Genius collaborated with Thai-Belgian singer-songwriter Violette Wautier on the tune “Future Ghost” in September of last year. Following their collaboration ‘Last Summer’ with Tokyo Machine in February and a Mandarin single named ‘Clock Of Reincarnation’ with Moi Yang the following month, this was their third single of the year.
Following the success of their breakout hit ‘Lathi,’ which won three wins at that year’s Anugerah Musik Indonesia Awards, the group became the first Asian act to sign with Universal Music Group’s electronic subsidiary Astralwerks in August 2020.
Novia Bachmid, a breakout singer from Indonesian Idol’s 2019-2020 season, has recorded five singles after joining with Hit Records shortly after leaving the talent show. ‘Tangguh,’ the official theme song for the 2021 Piala Presiden Esports event, was written by her and rapper Tuan Tigabelas.
