“When Lightning Strikes” by Shock Value is a rockable and energetic album comprised of ten tracks striding in driving guitars, chasing the bassline with deep thrumming drum beats, and a booming and catchy storytelling performance with friendly timbre and fierce vocals.
Starting with “Rockstar,” the album pulsates with infectious vocals stretching down the song as the lyrics chase stardom with the rock plastered in the narrator’s soul. The drums get pounding to ground the chase with purpose. This fabulous song has had its music video up since July 14th, do check it out to merge the contagious auditory experience with visual aspects, doubling the senses.
Continuing the album, we go to “Dirtbag,” an indignantly good song with an empowering context where the narrator accepts who he is. Being different and shunned by society can be quite crushing. But with those blazing guitars and jamming grooves, he shows them he doesn’t care. It’s quite the guilty pleasure of a song that you can’t put off once you begin to jam.
Ending the album, Shock Value crashes to a transcendent and evocative halt amidst the rocking energy with hazy vocals behind a liquid daze and piano waltzing with sweet and slow melodies, until a sudden and sparkly glitch of clashing cymbals sparks up like a blown fuse. With your reverie broken, you are back in the jam with driving guitars and blasting drums bustling with energy and catchy lyricism.
Do check out Shock Value’s newest album, “When Lightning Strikes,” to experience unbridled passion matched with the same amount of energy.
