Godlands, an Adelaide-based DJ and producer, made her label debut today with “GODSP33D,” a cutting-edge tune.
The single, which will be released as part one of her upcoming EP later this year, is a forward-thinking slice of trap with grime-inspired instrumentals and saturated samples that showcase her subterranean stylings. All eyes are on Godlands as she returns to the live space with an arsenal of against-the-grain records, with “GODSP33D” setting the pace. Godlands has graced several ‘Artists to Watch’ lists over the last year.
“I was particularly inspired by the current environment of trap music and fellow producers’ advancements in the previous year or two, to push the edge and dabble with new sounds and methods,” Godlands says. I enjoyed breaking the pattern and diving deeper artistically, as well as actually enjoying moving outside of my comfort zone.
Godlands, who was once known for her strong skills as an open format hip-hop DJ, flawlessly shifted and emerged with Australia’s second wave of electronic music in the last decade. She received immediate backing from authorities like as triple J and the BBC, with key tastemakers such as Steve Aoki, Alison Wonderland, and others rinsing her originals.
She’s exploded into the international stage since then, touring with JOYRYDE in 2019 and melting dance floors with her multi-genre style. She’ll be performing at a number of popular Australian festivals this summer, including Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Lunar Electric, and SUB XL, to name a few.
