From the sensation of being overwhelmed by the world around me in the title track to the triumphant feeling of overcoming fears in the last track, Frannie B’s “Wonderland” is a magical experience and is wonderfully reminiscent of Jessie J.
Not only can you and I hear the resemblance in her album, but Frannie B herself takes pride in wanting to create a project that sounds much like Jessie J’s album “Who You Are”, which she’s been holding on to ever since she was 13! I love a good old-fashioned dedication to the OGs and a walk down to the earlier days of music. That is queen behavior right there! Each track from the album Wonderland is dynamic – from lively and upbeat, to sounds of despair, some parts heavy in electronic music, while others make you break into dance with energetic dark-pop synths. You may also experience the lows of simplistic yet melancholic melodies. It’s a roller-coaster ride!
In regard to the 5-song EP, this is what Frannie B had to say about it: This EP takes inspiration from Jessie J’s debut album “Who You Are” which sounded much more like a mixtape than a stereotypical album.” The EP is a picturesque trip through the artist’s own thoughts from the past few months, charting the emotional highs and lows she’s encountered. And experiencing it has made me reflect on my own feelings too, so if you’re feeling some dark pop, give Frannie B a chance and you won’t regret it!
